The inferior alveolar nerve travels in relation to which muscle?

Explanation

The inferior alveolar nerve courses lateral to the medial pterygoid muscle as it enters the mandibular foramen. It does not run medial to the lateral pterygoid, nor does it pass lateral to the lateral pterygoid. While it originates from the mandibular nerve in the infratemporal fossa, its path relative to the medial pterygoid is lateral.
